Choreographer Tero Saarinen has the classical jester firmly by the neck as he twists the Pulcinella of Commedia dell'arte to face the Finnish aspect. In Pulcinella the needs of an individual collide with the values and demands of the community. The blue stage is filled end to end by an ambling herd. Rubust humour makes thus work ageless as verse by Eino Leino complements Saarinen's choreography and the dancers of two groups put their best foot forward. |
