Description |
Maija Hirvanen’s Our Social Democratic Bodies takes an incisive look at how we function in contemporary society and the era we live in. The piece is a tragically comic and comically tragic choreographic portrait of us, modern people. The physicality of the performance is built upon elements that evoke strong responses in us, or contingencies that are utterly impossible. It interrogates systems in which we participate upside-down. The process opens by asking: How do ideas define our bodies? In what ways does our physical presence determine the unfolding of events? How can we remember a time before we were born? Our Social Democratic Bodies is the first in a series of performances by Hirvanen called Operation Us. |
