"The premiere of the first Guardian of the Night for six men took palce in 1992. In 2001 Aaltokoski created a remake of the original work. In 2008 the piece took its third form, performed by seven women. 'The subconscious is not only the refuge for denied desires. It is a world as alive and real as the consciousness we are aware of - only endlessly wider and richer. Symbols are the language of the subconscious, communicated to us through our nightly dreams.'
