"Something somewhere brings to stage a group of elderly people and one young dance artist. The juxtaposition of these performers and their worlds creates a possibility of dialogue between different ways of thinking and bodily existence. The performance aims at provoking thoughts and questions through the means of performance art, thus building bridges between generations in our society. 'The project began with my desire to meet older generations and to co-operate with people outside the realms of performing arts. In early 2008 I held dance workshops for seniors over 65, with 52 participants. These workshops focused on bodily perception, dancing alone and together. In the creation of this piece we have focused on what is happening here and now - with these six different people of different ages. What kind of encounters take place between us and in relationship to the world, or the audience? We have investigated our being in time and space. We have tried to bring form to how we can be together and alone in various ways, and how something is and changes - in us, between us and in the world. And what is now.' - Eeva Muilu" |
