Description |
Double Bubble explores the question of similarity and identification, while also hiding behind it due to fear of being different. Instantly as the performers focus on listening to themselves and each other, they create the skill of simultaneous decision-making. The listening also sensitizes them to perceive their shared moments, where neither truth is better than the other. Double Bubble is a creature whose alter ego can be both as strong and agile as a boxer, or as feather light as a sensitive multi limbed being. The performance refers to phenomena known from the group behaviour in sport and questions the pressure to compete in order to always be the best, although we are mostly our own worst enemy. The sound is mainly constructed from looped human voices. The musician seeks to identify with his own voice, by imitating and repeating himself, at times as a sports commentator or a one-man band. Mäkinen and Tolvanen have a decade of experience of working together. They are particularly interested in the similarity of their physique, tonus and movement quality. |
