Description |
Solo performance I WILL TELL YOU WHEN I AM READY is a physical, motion-oriented contemporary dance piece that examines through the body the conflict between constant hurrying ahead, achieving of things and our limited time on earth. It is the first part of Myllylahti's trilogy Kesken (In Progress). Its core is formed by the beautiful yet hideous aspect of being in progress; of beginnings, starts and starting. Being ‘in progress’ often demands explanations. Why has something not been completed? What is the beginning? Can one be ready in the beginning? The beginning is full of unrealized potential; it is a space for imagination. The thought of being unable to go back to the beginning burdens one with awareness of and responsibility for the uniqueness of the human life. Yet a single movement could change everything. The performance praises the incomplete nature of human beings, but also the absurd perseverance with which the human being tries to become ready, to finish something meaningful. |
