Description | Dance artists Maija Hoisko ja Inari Salmivaara’s I am a museum project explores the body as a private and public museum. The definition of museum by the International Council of Museums states that “a museum is a non-profit, permanent institution in the service of society and its development, open to the public, which acquires, conserves, researches, communicates and exhibits the tangible and intangible heritage of humanity and its environment for the purposes of education, study and enjoyment”. In the I am a museum project, that started in Kone Foundation’s Saari Residence in the summer 2015, Hoisko and Salmivaara examine how the definition is applicable to the body. |
