Description On the Way Home is a poetic journey through suburban settings, a dive into the intimate lived spaces of private homes and anonymous yet shared urban spaces;a search for a home through temporary and permanent lodgings towards a distant horizon somewhere beyond the suburb.

Directed by choreographer Jenni Koistinen, On the Way Home asks what home means to us. What are the places, objects or mindscapes that make us feel at home, or homeless? Where do we find the feeling of homely cosiness, or feel its absence? Do we want to settle down or roam freely?

Kotimatkalla - On the Way Home is a communal dance performance set in the suburb of Kannelmäki, where the audience embarks on a guided tour of homes and outdoor spaces that turn into impromptu dance stages.

The performance is part of Zodiak's outreach programme's 10th anniversary, and is produced in collaboration with the My Name Is communal dance project arranged by Zodiak in the suburbs of Kannelmäki and Pohjois-Haaga since 2013. The project is funded by the City of Helsinki Cultural Office.
