Description |
Arja Raatikainen & Co’s Chorus Girl deals with the thoughts and experiences connected to the attitudes, reality and feelings regarding the concept of the chorus girl. All is spoken out with the voices of dance artists Jonna Aaltonen and Maria Nurmela. The work focuses on the dancer’s identity: it picks out parts of her experiences about her profession through speech and dance, using this to reflect the status of dance and dance art in society. Who are we talking about when we speak of a chorus girl? Is the chorus girl a symbol, a metaphor, an idea or a person? Which cliché does the chorus girl represent? And what lies behind her glourious smile? |
